Meet our dedicated team of staff! Click on their name or photo for more information.
Jodi has been involved in Swimming since she was just a tadpole! She spent many years lapping up and down Windmill Hill in Launceston and representing her club and state in her chosen sport. (This B/W shot was taken at Windmill Hill in 1971!)
Lindsay is married to Jodi and has adopted this watery way of life by choice. In the real world he's a First Aid Instructor for St John Ambulance and Royal Life, but he's also a Qualified AUSTSWIM Instructor and dedicated Jack-of-all-Trades (including Pool fixing!)
Sophie is new to Swim Central and I'm sure you'll all catch up with her at some time either on the front desk or in the pool.
Suzette's bubbly enthusiasm is sure to win her lots of loyal fans. A real asset to our Teaching Team!
George has finished his Law Degree and is having a year off before pursuing his career on the mainland. Having traveled extensively for the last 6 months, George is looking forward to being home for a while.
This is not Susan - but we think Susan looks a little like Brooke Shields, although Susan might not agree! Susan has been hanging round swimming pools since she was a little tacker and has been a AUSTSWIM Instructor for quite a number of years now.
Tracey first came to Swim Central as Mum of Hayden and Maddison - watching from the side of the pool. After helping out one day in Maddison's class, Tracey enquired about being a Swimming Teacher and now has finished her traineeship and is a fully qualified AUSTSWIM Instructor, also holding her Infant Aquatics Certificate.
Clare hails from W.A. and has a background as a competitive swimmer. She likes to work the kids hard in her big pool classes. Clare is one of a group of instructors who still swim regularly - training a couple of mornings each week.
Anita is another of our swimming parents who made the move to teaching and is proving to be an exceptional talent as a small pool teacher.
Stef came to swim teaching by way of Suzette (they are at Uni together) and fit right into the team instantly.
Originally from George Town, Kim recently moved to Hobart to study Arts/Law at University. She has been involved in swimming since she was 4 when she was taught to swim in the Tadpole Club and swam competitively for over 10 years from the age of 7!
Michelle is Mum to Joshua, Dylan and Amber and decided last year that being a Swim Teacher might be the job for her.
(No, this isn't really Brady - he's just a bit shy ....) Brady is Jodi's eldest and covers reception when no one else is available. He's generally more preoccupied with computers and video games, but has been known to take a message and pass it on!
Corinne first started out at Swim Central in classes, but she's moved on from there and now swims with a club at the Aquatic Centre.
‘The lady with the accent’!
Originally from Switzerland, Marie-Rose now lives and works here in Tasmania. Swimming was and still is a big part of her life and she loves to share this passion with the students in her class.
Melinda came to us from Darwin, where she worked as an AUSTSWIM Presenter and Instructor. She is a real sweetie and all her babies, kids and parents love her gentle approach to lessons.
It's amazing what we'll do to improve our teaching skills. In October 2005, five of us flew across to Melbourne and attended the VAIC's AquaSummit at Monash Uni. The AquaSummit is held each year and Swimming Teachers (Aquatic Educators) and Swimming Professionals from all over Australia get together and attend training.
